At the Juniors Boxing Worlds opening ceremony in Astana Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov voiced the country's wish to host the senior boxing world championship in 2013. The junior boxing competition was well-organized and this factored-in well with the International Association's decision to let Astana host the 2013 championship. Kazakhstan junior boxers won 5 medals: one gold, one silver and three bronze at the championship that took place in Astana on July 23-30. Kazakhstan has become fourth by the overall team score after Russia, Uzbekistan and Australia.
